About our Team
The MIWS Branch, within the Major Surface Combatants and Combat Systems (MSCCS) Division, provides an exciting, complex, and rewarding environment, offering careers in one of the most dynamic organisations within NSSG. The Branch operates across both Acquisition and Sustainment, developing and delivering products for new shipbuilding programs while also providing updates and upgrades to the existing RAN fleet. This work gives staff exposure to a broad range of high profile maritime projects and the opportunity to contribute to capability outcomes across multiple naval platforms.

The Engineering and Logistics Directorate delivers engineering, technical, and logistics enabling functions through a structured matrix organisation that supports all MIWS projects and products. The Directorate provides subject matter expertise, engineering design control, and baseline management for Combat Systems, including combat management, sensors and effectors systems.

The MIWS Projects Directorate is responsible for end-to-end project delivery across the Branch. This includes managing Integrated Project Teams, governance, and planning functions; overseeing project controls such as cost, schedule, scope, and risk management; and leading engineering and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) activities. The Directorate also coordinates Fundamental Inputs to Capability (FIC), manages performance evaluation and reporting, provides decision support to senior leadership, and ensures effective delivery and transition of capabilities into sustainment.

Our Ideal Candidate
We are seeking candidates with:

  • Strong people leadership skills and experience acting as a role model for technical and logistics teams.
  • Demonstrated engineering and logistics experience in acquisition and sustainment within an AEO, ASO and AMO environment.
  • Experience leading large and complex engineering or technical teams.
  • Proven ability to build a positive, high performing team culture and attract talent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.

Candidates must also demonstrate integrity, professionalism, self motivation, and a positive, resilient approach to challenges.
