Epicentre Engineers Pty Ltd are on the lookout for talented individuals to join our team.
Due to a strong pipeline of work, we are seeking to appoint a Senior Hydraulic Engineer. You will play an essential role in our engineering and drafting teams to obtain successful outcomes and deliver exceptional documentation for clients. You will work in a vital role which is responsible for tracking the progress and delivery of documentation.
You will require a highly collaborative and communicative approach to work with other engineers and drafting teams across Australia. Awareness of operational principles, collaboration and coordination with other engineering disciplines is essential to achieve the high-quality design solutions for our clients.
This position will involve some or all the following key tasks at varying times:
General Duties
- Direction from Operations Manager or Directors as required.
- Completion of reports and submissions for management as required.
- Resource management and meet budgetary requirements for the Hydraulic Group
- Ensure that the company quality standards are met with documentation and communication.
Design Work
- Design and documentation for Hydraulic services for all facets of industry as per the projects provided.
- Act as Project Engineer/Manager on selected projects which include acting as the design interface for all meetings, coordination and reviews as necessary.
- Ensure that the validation procedure of the project has occurred before the project leaves the premises.
- Engineering sign off under DBP Act/legislation, CPEng NER, FPAS/FPAA (Hydrants / Hose Reels) and any other qualifications required for engineering sign off under Hydraulic services
- Report writing as required.
Construction Phase Work
- Liaise with Contractors and Sub-Contractors to address construction related issues.
- Review technical submissions by Contractors and Sub-Contractors against the specified requirements.
- Review the quality of construction against the specified requirements.
- Attend site meetings as appropriate and report on the status of the work and any items of concern.
- Undertake Construction Administration on projects designed by Epicentre and as otherwise instructed.
Project Management
- Defines the main objectives, purpose, and scope, shared expectations, and determines how to move a project forward.
- Work with various stakeholders to create a project plan. Scope, cost, timelines, and risk are all defined. It is an evolving plant that doesn’t end until the project does.
- Executing the work defined in the project plan.
- Monitors project progress and budget, as well as making sure key milestones are reached, and compares performance against the project plan.
- Reviewing work that is completed, archiving work, releasing resources, and formally signing off on the project.
- Provide details for fee invoices with accounts for current projects and hydraulic projects for end of month invoicing
- Check job costing results for projects handled and ensure the correctness of proposed invoicing amounts before month’s end.
- Liaise with Directors on matters relating to staff financial project issues.
- Participate in financial meetings as required.
Marketing
- Actively market Epicentre’s services through project involvement, including contacting and visiting potential clients.
- Identify new business opportunities, prepare submissions, and arrange presentations.
- Participate in marketing meetings, proposal submissions, industry functions and provide client feedback in relation to Epicentre when required.
Training
- Provide training and mentoring to new staff in Hydraulic group.
- Take part in industry training as required.
- Identify areas where training would be of assistance and of benefit to the company.
Administration
- Provide details for end of month invoicing with accounts for fire projects.
- Liaise with Operations Manager, Directors and Accounts on matters relating to staff financial project issues.
- Provide details for fee invoices with accounts for current projects.
- Participate in financial meetings as required.
- Complete timesheets as required by the QA system.
- Complete reports as required by the QA system.
- Ensure the quality system is implemented and maintained on all projects.
- Ensure peer reviews are carried out as required.
- Ensure the highest standards are maintained at all times.
- Inform Directors or managers of issues on projects which may progress to Professional Indemnity claims as soon as the matter arises.
- Perform all tasks in accordance with the current Standards and regulations governing the parameters of the project.
- Make all endeavours to ensure company is not placed in a litigious position due to engineering malpractice.
- Manage engineers through QA of documents and processes.
- Engineering qualification for Hydraulic Services (CPEng NER, FPAS / FPAA or equivalent)

Design Building Practitioners registered as a design practitioner (or can be registered)

Minimum 5 years’ experience+ in the same or similar role.

Minimum 5-year building consultancy experience.

Has a sound knowledge of multi discipline engineering methodology and best practices.

Is proficient on relevant engineering software package/s, AutoCAD and Revit preferred.

Able to communicate effectively, internally with other engineers and externally with clients.

Knowledge of regulations and standard pertaining to the industry.
