About the roles

The Reconstruction Coordination team is a high-impact team driving the reconstruction of NSW public infrastructure. We are seeking Suitably Qualified Professionals to take on a critical role in supporting communities affected by natural disasters via the assessment of infrastructure recovery funding under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

Manager, Reconstruction Engineering and Cost Assessment

As Manager, you will oversee the formal assessment and processing of Category B funding applications, including Essential Public Asset Reconstruction (EPAR), Emergency Works (EW) and Immediate Reconstruction Works (IRW). You’ll lead a team with a focus on compliance, audit readiness, and collaboration with various stakeholders to drive best-practice funding governance across disaster reconstruction programs.

Senior Engineering Assessment Officer (x3)

This is a technical role requiring qualifications in engineering, quantity surveying or construction. You will apply your disaster recovery funding expertise to assess infrastructure damage, validate scope of works and ensure compliance with DRFA guidelines.

Note: This is not a finance or grants administration role, it requires technical judgement and experience in infrastructure recovery.

About You

We are seeking for proven experience in managing and administering disaster recovery funding programs, specifically DRFA or similar government funding schemes. Naturally, you have a strong understanding of compliance and audit requirements related to infrastructure and reconstruction works.

It is key that you have familiarity with infrastructure reconstruction practices, including understanding technical documentation, cost estimation, and project management within disaster recovery efforts.

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, quantity surveying, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in funding assessment or infrastructure recovery.
  • Must meet the criteria of a Suitably Qualified Professional (SQP) under the DRFA – typically a qualified Engineer or Quantity Surveyor with relevant experience.

About the Agency
The NSW Reconstruction Authority is a statutory corporation and executive agency of the Premier’s Department, that will improve how NSW plans for disasters and ensure that we recover from them faster.

To reduce the severity and impacts of disasters, the NSW Reconstruction Authority will complete critical planning and preparation with communities, businesses and government. When disaster does strike, we will get recovery started swiftly and coordinate reconstruction efforts across agencies, communities and other stakeholders.

Joining our team with a rewarding job in a community-driven agency is just the start. The Authority also offers:
