The Role
As an Engineering Manager, you will be given a unique opportunity to lead an engineering and technical team to deliver leading edge military systems.

Your responsibilities will require you to apply your engineering management skills and technical experience across a wide range of activities to ensure successful requirements development, test and evaluation activities and in-service support of land materiel.

You will lead a team to provide professional engineering expertise to support the achievement of technical integrity of military systems acquired by the Land Systems Division (LSD) in accordance with Technical Regulatory Framework requirements.

Land military systems may consist of, but are not limited to: vehicle and armoured vehicle systems, soldier protection, weapons, biomedical, communications, simulation, power generation, clothing,  chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear protection systems.

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for exercising assigned engineering authorities, thereby ensuring that land materiel is fit-for-service, safe, and environmentally compliant.

This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. About our Team
Land Systems Division’s (LSD) mission is to acquire and support capability that enables the ADF to generate and sustain deployable Land power for an integrated force, in peace and war. We aim to be agile, innovative and outcomes-focussed as we collaborate closely with the Services and industry to deliver the latest equipment to maximise ADF performance.

The Land Engineering Agency (LEA) is a Branch of LSD, within Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG), supporting various Directorates and Systems Program Offices to ensure successful requirements development, acquisition and in-service support of materiel. LEA provides services in engineering, testing, design and development and technical data management. Services are provided across the whole of the Defence Capability Life Cycle.

Our Ideal Candidate
The right person for this role will be an experienced engineering professional responsible for undertaking complex to very complex systems engineering management associated with land materiel.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a Bachelor of Engineering degree (see Mandatory Qualifications)
  • Have engineering management experience with a proven track record of delivering engineering outcomes
  • Have excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Be capable of leading, managing and mentoring successful teams
  • Experience working within a Technical Regulatory Framework
