The Role
Become a vital part of the RAAF's Air Warfare Engineering Squadron (AWE SQN), supporting aircraft and flight trials as a technical specialist draftsperson (Electrical).
This position offers a wide variety of challenging and rewarding tasks, as well as the rare opportunity to be involved in supporting Army, Navy and Air Force flight trials.
Your knowledge of AutoCAD will translate to precise electrical designs, supporting and driving the development of capability relating to electronic, electro-mechanical and electrical modifications of aircraft and associated systems.
You will additionally have the opportunity to learn 3D Inventor software to support mechanical design.
In this role, you will work in the design office as part of a small team of technical specialists delivering:
- Technical Electrical drawings (including Mechanical) in support of ADF aircraft flight testing designs.
- Configuration management of designs and technical products.
- Network infrastructure support for the Computer Aided Design Local Area Network (CAE LAN.)
- Development and maintenance of drafting related instructions and procedures.
- Participation in multi-discipline design activities (design reviews, project scoping, planning etc.)

AWE SQN is a Defence unit operating as a DASA Approved 21J Design Organisation, dedicated to the provision of specialist engineering designs and advice for:
- Aircraft Instrumentation and Specialist Aerospace Advice.
- Specialist Air Weapons and Stores Advice, including loading, clearance and employment of stores.
- Electromagnetic Compatibility and RF Analysis Advice.
- Aerodynamic Modelling and Weapon Danger Area Safety Assessments.
- Prototyping and Mechanical / Electrical Manufacture of designs.
