The Role

The role requires an appropriate mix of technical knowledge and multi-agency stakeholder engagement to deliver a significant aspect of the Australian Naval Nuclear Power program. It requires the skills, qualifications and experience to undertake two key efforts; supporting the establishment of ANNPSR policy for a significant national capability, and supporting the Regulating of that capability.

The successful candidate will:

  1. Provide a strategic level of expert advice on the assessment of emergency response plans for regulated sites as well as the regulatory audit, inspection, compliance and assurance of licence holders’ plans and field exercises related to emergency response that fall under the regulatory framework of the future Australian Naval Nuclear Power Safety Regulator (ANNPSR).
  2. Generate guidance material (policies, manuals, guidance, fact sheets, procedures) related to Emergency Planning and Response regulatory matters, and prepare correspondence, briefs and reports for higher delegate and committee consideration.
  3. Require extensive knowledge of regulatory frameworks, government decision-making and policy requirements to assist with nuclear safety regulation and licensing of emergency preparedness arrangements.
  4. Actively managing key stakeholder relationships and identify relevant stakeholders’ expectations and concerns to develop and communicate methodologies and practices to achieve outcomes.
