The Role
The Defence Energy Transition Office (DETO) within Fuel Services Branch (FSB) is the coordination body to drive Deputy Implementation of the Defence Future Energy Strategy (DFES), which prioritises targeted actions to reduce the environmental impact of Australian Defence Force platforms, assure military capabilities and maintain interoperability with allies. The team is seeking motivated individual with technical background to drive various low-carbon fuel/energy initiatives.

Key duties include:

  • Lead a small team to integrate clean fuel/energy technologies for use in Defence platforms, and provide technical advice to inform Defence energy policies.
  • Lead engagements with internal and external stakeholders with regards to Defence’s fuel and future energy requirements.
  • Develop technical reports and advice for senior Defence officials, Defence Committees and Inter-Departmental Committees.
  • Lead Defence’s engagements with commonwealth agencies, state and territory governments and industry to identify opportunities contributing to the ADF's clean energy transition.
  • Lead actions to identify future opportunities to develop the ADF fuel//energy resilience through energy efficiency measures to enhance operational effectiveness.
