About the role
As an integral member of the Infrastructure Services Team, the Asset Inspector is responsible for inspecting civil assets including roads, drainage, brides, marine infrastructure and footpaths; making recommendations regarding maintenance and repair of defects and undertaking minor projects.
Key duties include:
- Plan and undertake regular and routine defect inspections of Council assets to meet agreed inspection timeframes and/or Asset Management Plans
- Input defects into Council's Maintenance Management System
- Use Council's Customer Request System and undertake inspections as required
- Supervise contractors to undertake minor works
- Engage with and respond to customers
- Provide input to the asset capital works program
- Assist it the development, implementation and update of Asset Management Plans
- Assist in the development and maintenance of Council's assets registers
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience in civil construction and maintenance
- Current drivers licence
- Ability to use a tablet
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
- Ability to communicate both internally and externally in an efficient and friendly manner with all levels of staff, external organisations and customers.
- Demonstrated ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision to prescribed time frames
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
